I’M CHANGING THE FOCUS of this site, from all about my published novels and — oh, by the way, I make pictures, too — to all about my photography. It’s as an introduction to my art site — https://www.dreamflowerworks.art. (Make sure you get the “https” part and the “www” part.)
Here, as opposed to there, I will be talking about picture-taking and picture-making. Everything you see here may not show up there for sale, but a lot of it will. I plan on cherry picking the stuff I want to sell. And, some of that picking will depend on how readers here react to shots. This is going to be the blog for the Art Storefont site, as soon as I figure out how to link here from there. And, it’s my intention to put a link at the top of the home page here, back to the storefront. It’s my hope that folks will switch back and forth, depending on what they’re looking for.
When I take shots, I’ll discuss here the circumstances of the shots — what was going on at the moment and what moved me to compose a given picture the way I did. What I was focusing on, lighting conditions, and a little meta about what Toni and I (because we usually go shooting together) were talking about, thinking, seeing (stuff that might not get into a shot, but influenced it somewhat.
Then I’ll get into the post-production, or post, as it’s called in the trade. The filters. The flaws in the original RAW shot. What I had to do to adjust perspective, lighting, exposure, color, etc. to make a picture better, by my lights.
I kind of hope that readers here will interact with me and that I’ll learn from that, as opposed to pure instruction or lecturing.
EDIT (March 2023): In the time since this post was originally written, I’ve been fighting with content management systems and the ways and means of what’s been set up for me. I’m not 100% happy with everything and will continue to tinker.
But, for the moment, things work and I can proceed further.
I’ve also done quite a bit of shooting, some of the results of which I have posted on social media (Facebook and MeWe, and I’ll be looking at others, such as Sovren, and so-forth.)
Those posts will be transferred here and only echoed or linked on social media.
But that’s going to take some time. Please be patient while my will catches up with my desires.
I have also decided to dump PayPal (for their fascist ways) and will be looking for another payment management provider. Right now, Stripe is looking fairly decent, but I seem to recall having issues with them earlier. We’ll see.
